Distribution of catchment sea-fish requires precise temperature management for the physical condition of the fish using cold supply chain management. The study aimed to determine tiers in the cold supply chain, identifying logistics activities, and to develop supply chain strategies. The research using convenience and snowball sampling through in-depth interview on the 72 respondents in the coastal areas of Java island. The respondents consist of 22 fishermen, 22 ship owners, 8 officers from Fish Auction Facility (FAF), 9 traders, and 11 employers of Fish Processing Unit (FPU). The research results showed cold supply chain consists of 6 tiers. Logistics costs structure analysis shows dominant cost in transportation activities in the cold chain was 43.57% of total logistics costs. The result of the calculation of inter-tier profit margin indicates that ship owners cause the distribution of profit margin has not run efficiently. Supply chain strategy that is appropriate for the cold supply chain is through implementation of efficient supply chain strategy in the both tiers of fishermen and traders © 2016 The Authors.
